What the fee covers
The $399 installation fee covers the physical labour of replacing your gas water heater. This includes:
Safe removal of the existing gas water heater from the wall
Disconnection of all gas, water, and electrical connections to the old unit
Mounting the new gas water heater in position
Reconnection of all gas, water, and electrical services to the new unit
Removal and disposal of the old unit
Delivery of the new unit to your premises
This is the core labour required to swap the heater — regardless of what other works are included in the package.

Why $399?
The $399 reflects the actual cost of deploying a trained technician to your premises with a vehicle, tools, and the replacement unit. It covers the technician’s time on site (typically 2–3 hours), transit to and from the premises, and the overhead of operating a licensed, insured, and compliant operation.
For reference, City Energy charges $450–$600 (excluding GST) for the same physical swap — and their installation does not include any of the compliance works, pipework replacement, or warranties that Homeone’s Licensed Replacement Package provides.
Same fee, different packages
Licensed Replacement Package: $399 installation fee + gas works + plumbing works + electrical works + compliance + warranties = $2,188 total
Heater Swap Only: $399 installation fee + hardware only = hardware + $399 total
The installation fee is the same in both packages because the physical labour to swap the heater is the same. The difference is in the scope of works around it.

The $399 is the cost of a trained technician replacing your gas water heater safely and professionally.
