What is Regulation 21?
Under the Gas Supply Regulations 2009 enforced by EMA Singapore, Regulation 21 states that any new or replacement gas appliance must be tested by a Licensed Gas Service Worker (LGSW) before being used.
What must the test prove?
- The appliance has no gas leaks
- Combustion is stable and complete
- CO emissions are within safe limits
What must the LGSW do?
- Carry out test in accordance with SS608
- Issue a written statement certifying safety
- Sign off with LGSW license number
What happens if this is skipped?
- You violate Regulation 21 of the Gas Act
- Home insurance claims may be denied
- You endanger occupants with invisible CO poisoning risk
Don't be misled❗
A cheaper installer, or a deliveryman offering to “help install”, is not a substitute for a licensed professional. No testing = no safety = no insurance coverage.
