Gas Leak Inspection and Licensed Gas Heater Replacement: The homeowner reported an unusual smell near the kitchen and a gas water heater that had been malfunctioning for some time. Recognising the potential safety risk, they contacted Homeone for an urgent inspection.
Our licensed team attended on-site with a calibrated multi-gas detector. The detector recorded carbon monoxide (CO) at 1000 ppm in the vicinity of the heater — a hazardous level. For context, the Singapore workplace exposure limit for CO is 25 ppm over an 8-hour day; at 1000 ppm, occupants are at risk of CO poisoning within a short period of exposure.
Carbon monoxide is produced when a gas appliance burns fuel incompletely — typically due to a worn burner, blocked flue, poor ventilation, or internal faults developed through age and use. Unlike a fuel gas leak, CO is odourless and colourless, which is why a faulty heater can quietly become dangerous before the occupants realise. The smell the homeowner noticed was most likely combustion by-products from the failing burner, not the gas itself.
Given the reading and the condition of the appliance, our team isolated the gas supply, ventilated the area, and replaced the heater with a new licensed unit, commissioned and tested to confirm safe combustion and zero CO output in normal operation.

When our team inspected the existing Macro Gas Heater Powered by Citygas, several serious safety issues were discovered.
Given these findings, the heater had clearly reached the end of its lifespan and needed to be replaced right away to meet safety and compliance standards.
Gas & Plumbing Works
Supplied and installed a new Macro gas heater
Replaced gas valve and stop valve
Redid partial piping to meet PUB standards
Installed PUB-approved gas fittings
Replaced the control panel
Electrical Works
Reconnected electrical wiring to isolator
Installed protective equipotential bonding for safety
Gas Supply Compliance
Performed full testing and commissioning of the new installation
Issued an official Compliance Test Certificate by a Licensed Gas Service Worker (LGSW) in accordance with Singapore’s Gas Supply Regulations
This certification is legally required after any gas leak repair or heater replacement to confirm the system’s safety and compliance.
Homeone Engineering Warranty: 1 Year
Manufacturer Tank Warranty: 1 Year
The CO leak was caused by heavy rust and blockages in the heat exchanger and burner — the core combustion components of the heater. At that level of internal damage, repair is not economical or safe; the unit can no longer burn fuel cleanly even after servicing. Replacement was the only responsible option. The new installation restored compliant operation under EMA and City Energy standards and gave the homeowner a documented, warranty-backed system they can actually trust.
Upon completion, you receive a Statement of Gas Appliances Testing Certificate immediately. This critical document confirms:
✓ Installation complies with Singapore Standard SS 608:2024 – Code of Practice for Gas Installations
✓ Installation meets Gas Supply Regulations 21 requirements
✓ The gas heater and entire house gas piping have been tested
✓ No gas escapes exist and the system is safe to use

At Seastrand, the replacement did more than swap an appliance. Our Licensed Gas Service Workers isolated the supply, installed the new unit, pressure-tested every connection, and commissioned the system with a final gas pressure test certificate. The homeowner received the commissioning record, warranty documentation, and a maintenance schedule — and the job is logged on our system with full traceability for the life of the warranty.
The original hazard came from a heater that had quietly degraded over years of use. The replacement is not just a new unit; it is a system the homeowner can actually trust, backed by the licensing, documentation, and accountability that distinguish a compliant installation from a cheaper one.
