A homeowner at The Bayshore contacted Homeone after noticing water dripping from their ceiling and brown-stained patches forming around the false ceiling panel. Upon investigation, our team found the culprit: a Rheem 81VP6S storage water heater that had become badly rusted and had begun leaking internally.
The unit had reached the end of its lifespan. Water was escaping from the corroded tank body, and rusty discharge had already caused visible ceiling damage. Additionally, our assessment found multiple non-compliance issues: the existing power supply used an undersized 1.5mm² cable, and the heater had been installed without the required anti-vacuum valve, a component clearly stated in Rheem’s manufacturer guidelines.
The homeowner decided to switch to the Joven JSH25. The new installation was carried out with full PUB compliance and corrective measures for long-term safety.

A homeowner at Fontaine Parry reported rust formation and water discolouration from their Joven JH38 water heater. On inspection, Homeone’s technician observed visible external corrosion on the tank’s metal casing and fittings—typical signs of long-term wear and reduced performance.
In addition to the ageing unit, the system lacked an approved double check valve, which is essential for preventing backflow contamination into the potable water supply. This omission was a clear violation of SS636, the Singapore Standard for water service installations.
To resolve both the structural and safety concerns, Homeone proposed removing the failed Rheem unit and replacing it with a new Joven JSH25—a reliable and efficient 25L model suitable for concealed ceiling installations.
To ensure full safety and compliance:
A double-check valve was installed to meet SS636
Ceiling access was safely opened, and the leaking tank was removed
A drainpipe and electrical bonding were installed for full compliance
All work was carried out by a PUB-licensed plumber and supervised by an EMA-licensed electrician.
Shut off the water and power supply
Safely drained and removed the corroded Rheem 81VP6S unit
Cleared and cleaned the mounting area
Performed leak checks and flow tests
Verified heating and pressure controls
Cleared site of old fittings and packaging
Submitted compliance documentation under PUB-licensed supervision
This Rheem water heater rusty replacement at The Bayshore resolved urgent structural and safety risks. The newly installed Joven JSH25 offers improved durability, a compact form factor, and fully PUB-compliant fittings. The household now enjoys safe, efficient hot water delivery with updated anti-backflow protection, wiring, and bonding.
Homeone ensures every heater installation adheres to Singapore’s highest safety and compliance standards—protecting both your home and your peace of mind
