1
Check if the Heater Can Start
Turn on the hot water tap fully.
- Heater tries to start but shuts off
- Heater does not start at all
- E1 error appears on the display
This usually means the heater cannot ignite properly.
-
2
Check Gas Supply
Make sure gas is available.
- Check if your gas stove is working
- Ensure the gas valve is fully open
If gas supply is normal, the issue is likely inside the heater.
-
3
Reset the Heater (Once Only)
- Switch off the power to the heater
- Wait about 30 seconds
- Switch it back on and try again
If the E1 error comes back, do not keep resetting.
-
4
Listen for Ignition Sounds
Stand near the heater when turning on hot water.
- No clicking sound → ignition not starting
- Clicking but shuts down → ignition not stable
Both are common with E1 error code.

Look for Signs of Age or Damage
Without opening the heater, check outside:
- Rust around the casing or pipes
- Heater is old and has had repeated faults
These often point to internal ignition-related problems.
⚠️ Important: Do not open the heater or touch gas parts.
