A homeowner at Ban Guan Park reached out to Homeone after spotting rust stains around their ceiling and pipework. Upon inspection, our team confirmed a typical case of “Water Heater Rusty.” The existing Joven JH56 storage heater had reached the end of its lifespan, with corrosion visible on the tank body and surrounding fittings.
The water heater rusty condition was advanced enough that active leaks had formed, with rust streaking down from the bottom of the tank. The copper piping and insulation had also started to deteriorate, and several joints were leaking water. Most critically, the installation lacked electrical bonding, violating CP5 safety standards and increasing the risk of an electrical hazard.

To resolve the water heater rusty condition safely and ensure long-term durability, Homeone recommended replacing the unit with the upgraded Joven JSH56—a modern 56L storage heater designed for better corrosion resistance and safety.
Under the supervision of a PUB-licensed plumber, we performed the following:
Removed the water heater rusty JH56 unit, and corroded fittings
Installed the new JSH56 with proper wall anchoring and stainless steel piping
Fitted a drainpipe, double check valve, and stop valve
Upgraded the wiring to include electrical bonding as per CP5
Leak-tested the new system and filed PUB documentation for compliance
All connections and fittings were redone using stainless steel within 1 metre, preventing future rust and improving hygiene.
Shut off the water and power supply
Safely removed the corroded Joven JH56 unit
Disconnected non-compliant fittings
Mounted the new Joven JSH56 securely
Installed stainless steel inlet/outlet pipework
Fitted double check valve, drainpipe, and stop valve
Applied protective electrical bonding
Recommissioned the system and tested for leaks and safety

Conclusion
This water heater rusty case at Ban Guan Park highlights the importance of replacing ageing ceiling-mounted tanks before they cause property damage or electrical risks. By upgrading from the Joven JH56 to JSH56, and incorporating all PUB-compliant safety features, we restored full hot water functionality while ensuring peace of mind.
