When a homeowner in Tampines noticed their Ariston water heater not working, they contacted Homeone for help. Our team inspected the unit and found both a faulty power connection and signs of wear, confirming that the old heater had reached the end of its lifespan.

This project involved troubleshooting an Ariston water heater not working at a Tampines HDB flat. The homeowner reported no hot water supply from the existing Ariston TI-Shape 15 L unit.
During inspection, our Homeone team found that the heater was in poor condition — showing signs of ageing and internal corrosion — and that the power supply cable at the switch was loosely connected. These combined issues caused the heater to stop operating. The new Ariston AN2 15 RS water heater was installed with a properly secured 2.5 mm² power cable and checked for safe earthing and connection integrity.
The existing Ariston TI-Shape 15 L had reached the end of its service life. Its electrical terminals and internal tank were deteriorated, and repairing it was no longer practical. To restore safe and reliable hot water, the homeowner opted for a new Ariston AN2 15 RS, offering the same capacity but improved efficiency and safety features.
During inspection at 723 Tampines Street 72 (HDB), the existing Ariston TI-Shape 15 L storage water heater was found not working due to multiple safety and compliance issues involving both plumbing and electrical components.
The inspection confirmed that the existing installation was non-compliant with PUB and EMA regulations. A full replacement was required to restore safe operation in accordance with both SS 636:2018 and SS 638:2018.
✅ It’s a termination point for the water heater’s power circuit.
It connects the fixed wiring (from the isolator / MCB) to the
flexible conduit or cable that goes to the heater.
So the sequence for a typical installation in Singapore is:
DB → 20 A MCB → 20 A Isolator Switch (outside bathroom) → 20 A Junction Box (near heater) → Heater terminals
Scope of Plumbing Work:
Dismantled and removed the existing Ariston TI-Shape 15 L unit.
Installed new Ariston AN2 15 RS storage water heater in the same position.
Added missing safety component — double check valve.
Replaced the old components – , stop valve, and pressure relief valve (PRV).
Connected a new PRV drainpipe to safely discharge water in accordance with PUB’s guidelines.
Replaced old flexible hoses with stainless steel pipes within 1 meter and PUB-approved fittings.
Conducted water-tightness and pressure tests to confirm no leaks.
Scope of Electrical Work:
Upgraded supply cable to 2.5 mm² heat-resistant copper wire.
Installed new 20 A water heater connector box near the heater.
Added proper earthing and electrical bonding to the heater body.
Conducted full operational and safety testing before handover.
The job was completed together with the required PUB submission, ensuring that all plumbing works met PUB standards and complied with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations — an essential step to make sure everything was done safely and properly.
All plumbing and electrical work was carried out under supervision of both:
PUB Licensed Plumber – in accordance with SS 636:2018: Code of Practice for Water Services
EMA Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) – in accordance with SS 638:2018: Code of Practice for Electrical Installations
Licensed & compliant works only.
