Ariston Leaking: Replacing Ariston PRO RS 30SHE to Rheem EHG-30 at The Mayfair

Site Findings:

During our site assessment at The Mayfair residence, we identified that the Ariston storage water heater above the false ceiling was leaking from its base. Rust and corrosion were visible around the heater’s pressure relief valve and heating element area. The leak had gradually allowed water to seep into the ceiling space, leading to a brown water stain and visible damage on the false ceiling panel directly beneath it.

The heater showed signs of internal deterioration, which was causing small but continuous leakage. Although the ceiling cavity was well-ventilated, the affected area was becoming visibly damp and weakening structurally. The electrical connection, pipework, and ceiling fittings were also checked during the assessment.

The homeowner’s goal was clear — stop the leak completely and tidy up the visible ceiling damage. They requested a replacement heater with similar capacity and a practical solution to restore the ceiling surface without full reconstruction.

Proposed Solution:

Homeone proposed to replace the leaking Ariston unit with a reliable, space-efficient Rheem EHG-30 water heater, which matched the previous model’s capacity and suited the concealed ceiling setup. Our licensed technician also recommended partial ceiling reinstatement, focusing only on the stained and exposed section.

The solution included:

  1. Safe removal of the leaking Ariston heater.

  2. Installation of a Rheem EHG-30 storage heater with proper fittings and full compliance with PUB regulations.

  3. Ceiling repair work only on the stained area — restoring the appearance while avoiding unnecessary renovation.

This approach would fully resolve the leak, preserve the integrity of the ceiling, and ensure future peace of mind for the homeowner.

Job Scope:

1. Removing Old Heater:

  • Water and power to the unit were switched off safely.

  • The old Ariston heater was unmounted and removed through the existing ceiling access.

  • Rusted valves and aging pipe fittings were also removed.

2. Installation of Rheem EHG-30:

  • The new Rheem EHG-30 heater was mounted securely in the same position.

  • High-quality fittings, including non-return valve and pressure relief valve, were installed.

  • Proper electrical bonding and earthing were applied, in full accordance with PUB safety regulations.

3. Ceiling Reinstatement (Partial):

  • The damaged section of the false ceiling was cleaned, cut back, and replaced.

  • New ceiling board material was installed over the leak-affected area.

  • White finishing paint was applied to blend with the surrounding surface.

  • Ceiling aesthetics were restored without requiring full replacement of the ceiling.

4. Final Testing & Handover:

  • Leak tests were conducted on all plumbing connections.

  • Heater performance was tested to ensure full heating function and no tripping.

5. PUB Submission and Approval

  • We handled all necessary documentation, ensuring the installation was officially registered and compliant.

Conclusion:

The Ariston leaking issue had started causing unsightly stains and structural weakening in the false ceiling. While the damage was limited, it could have worsened with time. Homeone’s swift response resolved the leak with a Rheem EHG-30 replacement and a carefully executed partial ceiling reinstatement.

The new installation was done cleanly and in full compliance with PUB regulations, restoring both functionality and ceiling appearance. The homeowner now enjoys reliable hot water without the stress of hidden leaks or visible ceiling damage.
